JOIN THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

Norfolk American Legion Post 335 invites eligible community members to get involved

Norfolk American Legion Post 335 is looking to establish an American Legion Auxiliary unit and invites eligible community members to learn more about this opportunity to serve veterans, military families, and the wider community.

A Partner in Service

The American Legion Auxiliary is a separate but closely connected organization within the American Legion Family. Auxiliary members work alongside Legion members to honor those who have served our country and to support veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.

What Does the Auxiliary Do?

Auxiliary members help support veterans and military families, promote patriotism and good citizenship, encourage young people, take part in community service projects, volunteer with veterans, support local Legion programs, participate in memorial and patriotic events, and help neighbors in need. The work is guided by a spirit of service, compassion, and community.

Who Can Join?

Women who meet American Legion Auxiliary eligibility requirements may qualify through a qualifying relationship to a veteran or current or former service member, including as a mother, grandmother, sister, spouse, daughter, or granddaughter. Women who qualify for American Legion membership through their own military service may also be eligible to join the Auxiliary. Eligibility may be based on qualifying service by a living or deceased veteran, and applicants may be asked to provide documentation such as a DD-214 or other official military records.

Men may also be eligible to join the Auxiliary when they meet the Auxiliary’s applicable eligibility requirements, including through a spouse who is or was a member of the U.S. military. Prospective members are encouraged to contact us so eligibility can be confirmed.

If you believe in service, patriotism, and helping others, we invite you to be part of this new chapter of the Norfolk American Legion Family. Your time, ideas, and willingness to help can make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and throughout our community.
